What is one point of capture rate
worth to your practice?

Every patient who leaves with a prescription and buys eyewear elsewhere is a sale the practice did not make. Enter your own numbers to see what each added point of capture rate is worth in a year. Enter your work email to see the result.

WHAT A CAPTURE RATE LEAK COSTS

Half your patients buy
somewhere else.

In the example practice, 150 patients a month take their prescription to another seller. The practice did the exam and lost the sale.

This is exactly where LuxeVista Advisory Group helps. Patrick finds where your patients are being lost and gives your team the techniques to stop the leak. Hiring an advisor saves you time and goes after revenue you are already losing. Make the investment in your practice today.

FROM PATRICK’S OPERATING CAREER · LUXOTTICA

Problem
One Luxottica location had a 40% capture rate and lower sales revenue than the locations around it.
Action
Store visits, retraining of the store management and the optometrist, action plans, and meetings with the decision makers.
Result
After 120 days: revenue up approximately $40,000 a month, with the same traffic and no added optometrist coverage. Within 180 days: a consistent 75% capture rate, up more than 30 points, and a top-three ranking among 25 locations in its area.

Lesson. Same traffic, stronger execution. Retrain the people, set the plan and involve the decision makers. That is how you impact revenue.

Signs capture rate is leaking

  • Patients leave the exam room with a prescription and no handoff to the optical team.
  • Managed-vision-care patients use the exam benefit and buy eyewear elsewhere.
  • Capture rate is not measured the same way each month, or nobody owns the number.
  • Results change with whoever is working the optical floor.
  • Second pairs, premium lenses and sunwear are rarely presented.

What we look at

  • The handoff from the examination to the optical team.
  • Capture rate by doctor, by day and by optician.
  • Average eyewear sale, multiple pairs, premium lenses and sunwear.
  • How options are presented to managed-vision-care patients.
  • Manager routines and follow-through.

Relevant career experience

Patrick holds an associate degree in Ophthalmic Science and Optics and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry. He spent more than two decades in optical leadership at Luxottica (LensCrafters, Pearle Vision), leading ~450 franchise locations.

At U.S. Vision & JCPenney Optical he ran a $450M, 400-store business: a new premium lens package and pricing strategy added ~$10M in revenue and grew average transaction and premium lens mix ~20%, alongside 12% revenue growth and 8% same-store sales growth.
