FOCUSED ENGAGEMENT · FIXED FEE

Scheduling and Productivity

“Peak hours run short-handed, slow hours run over, and nobody knows what an hour of labor produces.”

This is one of eleven single-problem engagements. One problem, one deliverable, one number we watch. Priced reasonably for your practice and agreed with you in writing before we start. How fees are set →

The problem
The schedule does not follow patient demand, so the busiest hours are understaffed and the quiet hours are overstaffed.
You get
A productivity-per-labor-hour guide for your practice, a staff productivity standard by role, and a peak-time schedule built from your actual exam and optical traffic.
We measure
Revenue per labor hour, exams and sales per staff hour, and coverage at peak times.

Houston, Texas

The best people on the schedule were working the slowest hours of the week. We rebuilt the schedule from exam and optical traffic by hour, put the strongest opticians on at peak, and made results visible weekly. Within 60 days exams were up 30%, revenue up 8% and average sale up $18 — same doctor, same hours.

What a fix is worth. One eyewear sale a day lost to a short-staffed peak hour is about 300 sales a year; at a $280 average sale that is roughly $84,000, and the labor was already on the payroll.Illustration only, using 300 exams a month and a $280 average eyewear sale. Run your own numbers in the Capture Rate Calculator or Value Calculator.

How the engagement runs

Week 1: a 20-minute call, then your reports. Weeks 2–3: I work the problem with you and your team, remote by phone or video, or on site. Week 4: the deliverable above, in writing, with the number we watch and who owns it. Then you run it, with monthly advisory if you want me beside you.
